Mom's Breand and Butter Pickles

Ingredients

Ingredient Amount
Cucumbers 4 quarts, sliced thin
Onions 6 medium, sliced thin
Green peppers 2
Vinegar 3 cups
Salt 1/3 cup
Sugar 5 cups
Turmeric 1.5 tsp
Celery seed 1.5 tsp
Mustard seed 2 tsp

Directions

  1. Cover cucumbers, onions with ice for 3 hours.
  2. Combine vinegar, salt, sugar and spices
  3. Pour over veggies and bring to boiling point.

Makes about 6 pints.
